John Greaves and David Simpson complete the NSCAA Director of Coaching Diploma



John Greaves and David Simpson completed the NSCAA
Director of Coaching Diploma in Florida. The course
was run in conjunction with US Club Soccer and
reunited the YMS Director of Coaching an his assistant
with Jeff Tipping the NSCAA Director of Coaching &
Development. Tipping used the YMS Xplosion at the
NSCAA Convention in Philadelphia for his opening
demonstration. Coach Greaves and his staff will be
attending the Convention this year in Baltimore.

John Greaves  

John has brought his soccer knowledge and years of experience to YMS to create a positive impact on both the players and the club. John oversees the travel program which has over 750 players. He also oversees the In House program which is 1200 players strong. Along with David Simpson who is the Assistant Director of Coaching at YMS, we have become  one of the largest all around player clubs on the East Coast and have grown tremendously in both size and reputation since it’s inception 26 years ago. We offer Premier, Travel, Academy, In House Recreational and Adult Programs for all levels of play. Created in 2003, the Academy program which is an integral part of the Travel Program, was introduced by John, and is now 17 teams strong.

KEVIN LONG - NEW TRAINER / COACH

YMS would like to welcome Kevin Long to the YMS professional coaching staff,

headed by John Greaves (DOC) .

Kevin just completed his fifth season as the head coach of the Rider University

girls soccer team.

In his first two years he led both the 2003 and the 2004 Broncs to a

Rider-record for victories, 11 in 2003 and 12 in 2004, and to the Metro Atlantic

Athletic Conference playoffs. In 2004 he led Rider to the MAAC Championship

Game, and in 2005 Long led Rider to a first-round victory in the MAAC

Championship tournament.

Long is a 1993 graduate of George Mason University, where he was a member of the

varsity soccer team. Long began coaching at Randolph-Macon women’s College in

1997 before moving on to NC State, one of the premier soccer programs in the

nation.
